Old School BMX
Old school BMX are very sort after at the moment. Like most things that were very popular in the past good examples are hard to come by. Nowadays men of a certain age want them to collect, very similar to vintage cars, bikes and scooters.
As you would expect prices varie, for instance a very 80’s looking ‘aero reflex’ is currently at £295 on ebay. If you are looking for pricing on old school bmx, our advice would be ‘how much is it worth to you’. Some obvious pointers are
- How long has the person owned the bike
- How many original parts
- What condition is it in , remember these bikes were for riding not looking at.
- Genuine tyres from the time are going to be replaced if you intend to ride
- See if the wheels are straight, otherwise the spokes or even whole new wheels will need replacing.
- Remember you was a lot smaller and more nimble when you was teenager.
- A common remark is ‘it felt better then!’ our rose tinted clases clouding our mind

Look out for JAG BMX, Decoster, Blue max, Mototrac, Racer X and Rampar are old school bmx look a likes. Some were made for other people on behalf of BMX and others just inspired by BMX. A mention should be made to Motomag wheels.

If you intend to use the old school bmx we would advise buying a new one. Yes it is a shame not use them, but as they are becoming more and more rare you could potentially wasting money. We still hear of old models still coming up for sell at car boot sales etc. expect to pay a fair sum, but happy searching also.
There are a few websites that specialize in Old school bmx but as stock is hard to find on a regular basis we sell new bikes. The bikes now are made are great, there is a great variation in price allowing the user to get involved at very cost effective prices. At the other end of the scale there are some very cool bikes with bigger price tags.
